New to the board? These are the matka words you will see most, in everyday language.
| Ank | A single digit from 0 to 9. To get a panna's ank, add its three digits and keep only the last digit. |
| Panna / Patti / Panel | Three names for the same three-digit number, such as 128 or 380, written low to high with 0 treated as the highest. |
| Jodi | Two digits: the open ank followed by the close ank. |
| Open / Close | The first and second declarations of a market's day. |
| SP, DP, TP | Short for single, double and triple patti: no repeated digit, one repeated digit, or all three the same. |
| Red jodi | A double such as 44, or a cut pair such as 38. Charts show these in red. |
| Cut | A digit's partner five places away: 0-5, 1-6, 2-7, 3-8, 4-9. |
| Half and full sangam | Half sangam joins a panna from one side with the ank of the other. Full sangam joins the open and close pannas. |
| Star Line / Jackpot | Hourly draws. Star Line gives a panna and ank, and Jackpot gives a jodi. |
Take 235-04-167. The open panna adds up 2+3+5 = 10, so the open ank is 0. The close panna adds up 1+6+7 = 14, so the close ank is 4. Put them together and the jodi is 04. Neither panna repeats a digit, so both are SP.
